This summer has been so trying on our faith.  I say this because like you, we had hoped and prayed for an abundance of vegetables to feed our CSA members and ourselves.  But that didn’t come.  Or at least with the summer vegetables it didn’t.  And, we’ve been reminded these past few weeks that just because we are praying for an abundance doesn’t mean God will grant that to us.  He supplies us with what we need, Not what we want.  That is so hard to cope with sometimes.  Also, in times like this, He draws us near to strengthen us in our faith.  GodRead More →

Todd will be at the Charlotte Tailgate Market and I will be at the Belmont Fresh Market.  We normally don’t bring much if anything to the Belmont market but this week, I will have a few good vegetables.  I will be at Belmont from 8am til 9:30 or 10am.  Please stop by and visit us and the other vendors.  We are not giving up on the Belmont Fresh Market.  If you don’t get there in time, please feel free to give us a call and we’ll let you know what we have harvested that day.  Also, definitely check out the Charlotte Tailgate Market this Saturday,Read More →

I had hoped to get this newsletter out last Friday morning, but that of course didn’t happen.  I quickly realized that I wasn’t going to be able to finish the newsletter and harvest everything for the CSA.  Well, I just want to let all of the members know that this isn’t going to happen again, hopefully.  From now on I will have the newsletter completed and sent to your inbox by Thursday evening.  I was at the Tailgate Market Saturday and my wife was at the Belmont Fresh Market.  We had a few radishes and fresh free ranged eggs to sell at the Belmont FreshRead More →

CSA Starts soon but………. Later than expected!! Our first CSA pick up date has been pushed back one more week to May 9, 2009. This past week has been crazy on the farm.  We finally received the break we needed to get things planted.  It has been very hard this year to follow my planting schedule due to the wet weather.  I missed many of my planting dates.  Now that the weather has stabilized a bit, I have been able to finally get things back on schedule as much as possible.  I do still worry that because of the wet early spring and not beingRead More →

Our 2009 CSA program is now full.  We want to thank everyone for supporting our farm this year.  We truly believe in local food and farming the way nature intended.  We will begin sending newsletters to all of our CSA members in the coming weeks.  We look forward to farming for you this upcoming season. If you would like to be added to our waiting list, please email us your name, phone number, and what type of share you are interested in to todd@shadycreekfarmandnursery.com.Read More →

Currently, there are still CSA shares available for our 2009 season. Click here for more info about our CSA.  We will let you know when there aren’t any more shares available.  Sign up for a CSA share today! Making the commitment to eat local, seasonal produce is a very important thing.  It really helps you to get to know your local farmers and understand what goes into growing the food you eat.  Your food doesn’t travel thousands of miles to get to your table when you buy from small family farms.  It normally travels less than 50 miles.  Also, when you buy locally, you are helpingRead More →

We are now also accepting half shares into our 2009 CSA program as I mentioned on the previous post.  I did leave out a few details.  The cost per half share is $225 plus $50 deposit.  That is half the cost of a full share and half of the deposit.  If you have any questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.  I have not updated the application as of yet.  I will be updating it shortly.  If you would like to buy a half share, please just write it on the application if it isn’t updated at that time.Read More →

We will be more than happy to deliver some fresh eggs to you.Read More →

I hope we didn’t miss too many customers today at the Charlotte Tailgate Market.  We tried getting to the market but due to the marathon that was taking place, all roads leading to the market were blocked. We will be at the Market next Saturday, December 20, 2008. If anyone needs any eggs or pecans before next Saturday, we do have them available here at the farm.  Please call before you come to make sure we still have them available and are not sold out.Read More →
